I have visited both Buddhist and Taoist Temples. Can anyone tell me what the difference in architectural styles, including Confucious Temples.

If I saw a temple with no signs, is there a way to tell by looking which one it might be?

I'm interested in the history and styles and main differences is why I ask.

Thank you.

That's a very good question, I never thought about it before. Gee, I was thinking about it for a few minutes and found I am as confused as you are:-)

Let me try:

I didn't recall big differences in architectures:((, but,

There are eye-catching signs to differ these two kinds of fanes/ temples, such as the following one, if you see this anywhere in the 'temple', it must be a Taoism temple:

And this sign indicates a Taoism Temple, too:

This is the sign I can find of Buddhism[some say this was Nazi's sign, and the inverse image is the Buddha's, actually, it was not true, no matter which direction it turns, it's Buddhism symbol]

Thank you Rita. That's the kind of items I am looking for. I've wondered into a few in the country side, not that I would go in out of respect, but if the door is open I look.

I got to wondering about the differences.

Those are worth jotting down.

Taoist temples are the most colourful, and Confucian temples the most sombre. Buddhist temples are in between the two.

Nobody would guess that this is a catholic church. It has about 80+ years history. It is found in Dali Old City. You must really see it. It is awesome. It has the look of Noah's Ark on the side view.

How interesting! Until you said it was a Catholic Church, I would not have noticed the cross at the very top. That is quite fascinating to see that architecture for that building. That's not typical for other Catholic churches in China is it?

Beautiful building!

Different measurement of years.
According to a researched article, Noah lived 623 yrs and was based on 365.25 days a yr.
How long was a yr accordingly to the Bible ?
