I leave for Shenyang in two weeks. The people who invited me say that they enjoy tent camping, but I have not found any references to campgrounds so far.

We will travel from Shenyang area to Beijing, visit the Great Wall, and perhaps Xian.

Train is the expected mode of transportation. I am traveling with a native speaker.

TIA,
Griz

What's camping????? in China.

It's pretty limited but a growing activity. I know a young couple who took her homestay parents camping around western Sichuan for a night or two. They hired the sleeping bags etc Tents were onsite I gather.

I've seen photos of the odd camping area but it's nothing like you'd expect back home. US for you????? If you get the chance take the experience but it may not be quite what you'd expect. I've seen more tents as shade shelters on beaches than anything else.
