Two digital cameras: can I leave one behind?

I plan to take two digital cameras with me to China.

Am I permitted to leave one of them with my friend? It would be nice if she could send me pictures.

Or will I be expected to return with both cameras when I exit China?

If asked why I don't have both cameras, could I just say I lost it? Or would that cause problems?

Don't worry about the camera.I have taken many things to China and left them there,laptop computer,CD player,NFL football,clothes,food.Never had a problem:)

I don't think there is a problem on this issue. No one will stop you to give a gift to your friend.
