GUEST90211 @ Ellyse, I have been offered 18,000 RMB a month for a job. What would you say the quality of living in Guangzhou is for that amount of money per month? I have found an apartment for about 4,500 and I am interested in knowing about the cost of food for just myself and also the cost of entertainment, ie: night clubs or bars. Would 18,000 be considered a good salary? Thank you in advance for any help!

RMB18000/month should be considered as a very good salary for a local chinese people But for foreigners may be just normal salary and with that kind of money , you can have quality time in guangzhou for sure . Just to give you an idea of the cost for the food, for a not too bad fast food lunch set around RMB35, one bottle of heneken will cost you RMB35 in the bar and pubs , black label will cost you around RMB350-450/bottle in the ktv. Welcome to china and hope you enjoy your stay here .

GUEST72163 Hi everyone,
I got a job in GZ and Im planning to move there with my girlfriend. I was offered 14500 RMB. Do you think it's enough for a decent living for 2 at least for the begining, until she finds a job as well? I need to add that we are thinking of renting a 1 bedroom flat, and we don't go out to clubs/pubs too often.

GUEST30637 Hi,

I might have to come for work to Guangzhou soon to work as a Project Engineer. I am afraid of racism against Indians there? Also do people speak abit of English there?

Guangzhou is an open city compared with other cities in China and more people speak English there. But still, it's a small amount and I think you'd better learn some basic daily use Chinese.
