Hi there
Simitai is easy enough to get to - bus from Dongzhimen station- they will drop you off at the road that leads to the Simitai part of the wall, taxis there to take you up about 20rmb each way, and let you know what time your pick up will be to get abck to the bus on time, and there seemed to be plenty of "farmers" wandering around on the wall who could give you alot of the history, we found a couple who took us all tha way up the wall with a running commentary on the construction and uses of all the structures. A superb day and we came away very well informed.
