Wow, wil it cause a new round of arms race? Will it interrupt the balance of power? Other traditional military powers will feel insecure and unease. Nobody knows what Britain's move will trigger. Another World War?

Perhaps, it will trigger a new round of arms race. Britain want to regain its Navy Supremacy. It would pose a threat to its feud, France and Germany. These three powers compete against each other to play the leading role in Europe. Futhermore, US do not want to see any single country in Europe becoming powerful to defy his leadership in NATO.

I don't think it as trying to regain our navy supremacy, we are just replacing our old ships and about time too.
As for competing with Germany and France there is no fued, we are not always happy that they don't want get involved in any conflics around the world, it seems to be left Britain and the US which is why we are their closest allies.
I hope there will never be another world war.
