Oct 22, 2007 15:00
guest14101 Heading to Guilin in November and wondered what the latest was on the flooding situation there. Has anyone been through recently?

Is the area OK to visit?

Are the Li river cruises still running?

thanks

I don't think there has been any flooding in Guilin, though a few months back there was some in not too far away. There's no flooding shown on TV anywhere at present.

GUEST54203 the weather in november is coming into winter there is no flooding then. The floods occur every year in summer, but is minor in guilin. My wife is a native of guilin and I have been there many times. Going there in Sept and Oct. Enjoy your time there.

In Rongshui County, half of the 20 townships reported rainfall measurements of 100 to 200 millimeters from Wednesday to Friday. The worst hit was Dalang Township, which recorded a 402 millimeter deluge. The downpour forced 47,000 people in the county to leave their homes.

The local meteorological department issued the red rainstorm warning on Friday.

Your best option is to Google and you'll find fresh reports including photos. it doesn't seem to be making the news here much. It happens every year and should have passed by Nov. Read other comments. I have traveled this route in July /August and passed through. Are roads a mess?? yes they are but that's to be expected but they are passable albeit slow.
