Natasha. You will need to get a Chinese visa to visit Guangzhou. This can be done in HK, but will take 4 days for the standard service. You can get it in less time, but obviously the price goes up steeply. You can also get one from the Chinese embassy in Nairobi before you leave.
If you are applying in HK, then the cheapest and easiest place to do this is with an agent called CTS. They have many offices all over HK.
There are many ways to get to GZ from HK, but the two most sensible ones are bus, and train. There is a direct train from Hung Hom station which takes 1.45 mins, and costs about $200. The bus (also run by CTS) is about $100, but takes over 3 hours. You can also catch two trains (one from Tsim Sha Tsui to Lo Wu, and then cross the border by foot and get another one from Lo Wu to GZ) which costs about $120 and takes about 2.5 hours (providing there is not too much congestion at the border).
Other ways of possible transport include flying, boat, taxi, cycling, walking, swimming, and running, but these are less convenient.

an odd situation here...
I have dual citizenship (US, INDIA) and I applied for multiple entry visa to China on my indian passport but only granted a single entry.
The thing is, I will be getting in to China for a week, then go to India, then to China again (flight is from US-CHINA, CHINA-US).. (Flight from China-India, India-China is separate)
without multiple entries, how can I do this?
This is all due to the fact that they didn't grant "MULTIPLE" and just give me a SINGLE entry.
I could apply again for a visa in India.. but it's so risky, what if they didn't grant me a visa? I can't use the ticket back to US from China. This is driving me nuts.

18914: Apply for a visa on your US passport. Sure it will cost more but you might have less trouble. Or as you only have a single entry, try again in India. You might or might not be successful.

You can apply for a new F visa in Harbin but you are likely to need supporting documentation from a business. It is normally processed in 4 days but you can pay extra to have it done quicker. The cost depends on the nationality of the passport you have. My experience is that you do not need to apply until the last day of your existing visa. While they process the application you do not need a visa (!).
However, the stricter rules for the period to the Limpick Games means you may not get the visa you need. You might do better to pay a Shanghai visa service - unless they say you are wasting your time anyway.

Hi,
I am a Russian citizen staying in Germany as a tourist, and I have a ticket from Berlin to Shanghai for June 8. I planned to get my tourist visa in Berlin, but found out that the Chinese embassy won't handle a non-resident's application, and the rule is the same in all of EU. Is there a way I can get an L-visa on arrival to Shanghai's airport? Can agencies help with that, and will the airline let me board the plane in Germany?

I am too late for GUESTKATYA but for anyone else in this absurd situation, you can do the following if you have time. I had to do this a coupel of years ago for a Z visa.
You apply through your own country. Fill out the form and send it with your passport to someone in your own country who can apply for you. I used a travel agent and paid a fee to get it done. I prefer to use a Chinese travel agent as they handle so many visa applications. Then have it sent back to you.

Before you COULD get the special Shenzhen 5 day Visa at the Lohuo/Lowu crossing (you go up the escalator after HK immigration and after the bridge). But since April 2008 that is ONLY given to Hong Kong residents with HK ID card.
So MUST have a valif China visa before you enter.
