The Chinese-Canadian artist Terence Koh displayed a controversial statue of Jesus with an erection, stirring uproar in UK. According to sources, a British art gallery, the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead, is being sent to court for displaying the controversial Christ sculpture. It is reported that Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art has showcased a numbe of Terence Koh’s pieces from September 2007 to January this year including Mickey Mouse and ET with erections. Some pious vistors to the art gallery has been angered by the sculpture. The gallery has been accused of offending public decency and breach ing Section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986 by a private prosecution in UK. Some liberals defended that "While Jesus was a human being in every way, why can’t he get an erection?” What do you think of the Christ Sculpture?

No controversy at all...it is just a statue, and a set of oversized sunglasses in a full moon night around, that's all.

What a strange collection of personas to 'fix' his erectile fixation upon.

Non of them can defend themselves but then shy should they.

Why not use someone like Bill Clinton or other well known playboys who'd probably be appreciate and be proud of the attention

I’d like to see this “artist” follow up with a statue of Mohammed and then see the smile on his face…..

Haha, Dodger, good one.

I think all remember the Danish Mohammed pictures and what happened then.....

Or Salman Rushdie, who wrote "The Satanic Verses" and Ajatollah Khomeini gave fatwa and promised that Iran will pay well to anyone who kills Rushdie.

I think Rushdie did not smile very much for a while then.

The Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons controversy obviously has some issues. The publication of the 12 controversial cartoons attempted to contribute to the debate concerning the critism of Islam and self-censorship.
This Christ sculpture seems to have no clear motive.

Can you give a clear boundary between pornography and art? Artists claimed the purity of art.

What I would like to know is what constitutes the modern definition of the word art.
Or are we all just being conned and cowered into not calling out that this is simply rubbish.
Dodger.

Yup, for the sake of art, why not a Muhammad statue. I hear a fatwa coming up.
