Where in Guangzhou, China to extend Chinese visa?
Aug 19, 2008 23:54
guest69215 Hi all

I plan to go to Guangzhou, China.

Where in Guangzhou do I extend my visa if I were to stay longer?

If there's a site that gives out that information and price, please let me know!

Any answer is appreciated!

GUEST69215 Another question:

Is it true starting July 1 2008, there are no visa extensions being granted in China?

I plan to go to China after the Olympics

You can only get a 30 day extension (actually it is a new visa) in Guangzhou, but that might not be the case until end of September when the visa rules should return to normal. If you are in Guangzhou, you are better off getting on a train of bus to Hong Kong, and getting a new 3 month visa (also not available until late Sept). This will cost you about $1200HK. To get a 30 day visa in GZ, you need to go to the Entry and Exit Administration Bureau Office (it's actually a much longer name than that, but I edited it!) which is on the corner of Jiefangnian Road and Dade Road. Nearest subway is Haizhu Square or Gongyuanqian. This will cost 400RMB. Best to go at around 4pm when there is rarely anyone there - no need to line up for hours.

Cannot be more clear than BARON just add that you can take taxi too. Some places are far from subway then it depends to the location from where you leave.

To get the new visa you MUST have a passport type photo and proof of where you are staying. If you are in an approved hotel they will be able to fill out a proper form for you. If you arre staying with friends they will need to register you with the police (officially, they should do that anyway) and then the police will give you a form.

In the Gz office, go right to the top floor. You pay after you have seen an officer and then come back to him/her with the receipt.
