The metro system in Shenzhen doesn't go all the way to the airport.
The earliest departure from Hualian Dasha (at the Luohu border, apparently) is at 0620 and takes about 35 mins to get to Shenzhen airport.
Otherwise, the earliest bus departures from Hong Kong are: from Mongkok/Prince Edward at 0530/0640 (90 HKD, frequency every 15 mins) or Huanggang border at 0630 (60 RMB, frequency every 30 mins).
There're no direct trains for Hong Kong -- Yichang, nor for Shenzhen -- Yichang. The train from Guangzhou takes too long and departs in the afternoon anyway.
If you've any more queries, email to yahoo.com|ellyse99 and put "TravelChinaGuide" and your own username in the subject line, thanks.

GUEST19310 Dear ellyse,

thank you very much for the information.
i have another few questions if you could help me out.
till what time does the metro run at night and at what time does the earliest metro go in the morning to the Luohu border (Hualian Dasha)at shenzen.
and do know how long the busses take to get to shenzen airport from the Mongkok/Prince Edward station.
that would be a help.
thank you so much for helping me out.

Darn, it apparently takes 3 hours starting from Mongkok/Prince Edward. I think it might make more sense taking the one from Lok Ma Chau/Huanggang border, which I guess would take no more than an hour, hopefully?
Earliest MTR from where? The Lo Wu/Luohu border only opens at 0630 anyway. You'll need to take the MTR there, cross the border (and go through immigration) on foot then get the airport shuttle to Shenzhen airport. However I believe the Lok Ma Chau/Huanggang border is open 24-hours.

Mongkok -- Lok Ma Chau, transfer at Kowloon Tong, earliest 0616, latest 2131. Journey time is 54 mins.
Mongkok -- Lo Wu, transfer at Kowloon Tong, earliest 0616, latest 2301. Journey time is 49 mins.
Prince Edward -- Lok Ma Chau, transfer at Kowloon Tong, earliest 0618, latest 2132. Journey time is 52 mins.
Prince Edward -- Lo Wu, earliest 0618, latest 2302. Journey time is 47 mins.
If you catch the latest departure to Lo Wu, you'll barely make it in time for the crossing before the border closes, so I don't recommend this at all.

It looks like you should aim to leave Hong Kong the night before, not on the early morning on the day of your flight.

"Best" is subjective. You could try taking airport shuttle 330, it should take around 40 mins, fare 20 RMB.
