The militay parade is an anachronism intended to intimidate neighbours and promote nationalistic fervor. It belongs in the past. It will only succeed in producing another arms race.

At least China seems to have come out of their military secrecy. Although I don't know how much they still hid at that parade, but the part which they did make public, clearly showed that they have already overtaken the Russians at least.
