CANADAGUY Points: 1000 Join Date: Oct 1, 2007 Status: offline	Simple words... I'm not able to hear much Chinese first hand now, but occasionally I still do. In Mandarin, one word keeps coming up all the time that I'd like to know the meaning of. It must be a very simple word. It's pronounced: Jigga. TIA

It stands for (T)hanks (I)n (A)dvance. :) But to answer your question, I visited Guangzhou for about five weeks and so I heard these words very often. But I also watched CCTV which had quite a few Mandarin channels. I much preferred the sound of Mandarin to Cantonese.
