My fiance' is certain one of her parents will give permission but not both. Her hukou registry is with her parents. How can we overcome this obstacle so we can marry in China?
Is the Hukou registry and/or parents' letter required for the US fiance' visa? The fiance' visa requires proof of residency since the applicant was 16 years old. Maybe this is the hukou?
It seems crazy that a grown woman graduated from college cannot choose to marry anyone she wants without a letter from parents and a hukou registry that is held captive by her family.
sincerely,
Charles

GUEST18846,
If you want to get married in China, you should have her Hukou registy to register your marriage at local civil affairs bureau.
As for K visa, I think you may read this page to learn much more information.

On this page, it requires your GF to provide police certificate. It is actually the non-criminal record. She has to go to the local PSB to get it. I am not sure her Hukou Registery is required. In some areas, they just take their ID cards to apply for that. You may ask her to consult wth local PSB how to apply for the non-criminal record.
