guest70254	Hello everyone, I will fly to Hong Kong via Guangzhou in april. I would like to explore the city for a few days using the 72 hour visa. I have read conflicting information about the duration of the free visa. Some websites say the 72 hours start when the plane lands, others say they start at 00.00am after landing. Which one is true for Guangzhou? Thanks!

Let's say my time is up, but I have already checked in, or gone through passport control (on my way to the next destination). Is it okay to be in the airport even if my time is up?

There is no regulation that states 72 hours is counted from 00:00 of the next day. However, according some people who did 72 hours free transit, the duration is counted from 00:00 of the next day. I would you contact the airport at 0086-21-51105100 to confirm this in case your trip is affected.

It should be ok if you check in early to pass the immigration checkpoint. If you are worried, you can confirm this by calling the same number listed above her.
