Train / Bus Service from Kunming to Hanoi

KDSYBEN Points: Join Date: Nov 19, 2015 Status: offline	I intended to go by yunnan rail from Kunming to Hanoi but it seems that there is no service in place. Is there a regular train connection from Kunming to Hekei ( border) ( timeschedule ?) and from there a bustransfer to next railway station in Vietnam ? Any idea about the cost ? Appreciate every tip. Klaus

There is no direct train from Kunming to Hanoi. You can take bus from Kunming East Bus Station to Hekou, cross the border to reach Lao Cai. From Lao Cai, you can take train to Hanoi.

Bus from Kunming to Hekou departs at 11:00, 11:40 and 19:30. It takes around 7 hours and costs CNY 149.

The train from Lao Cai to Hanoi departs at 18:50, 19:25 and 20: 20. The ticket prices is about CNY 130 for a soft sleeper.

There are buses from Lao Cai to Hanoi. But I don't suggest you take bus because it is too slow.
