Is permission from the bride's parents required for marriage?

I plan to marry a Chinese girl, who is over 20. I am a foreigner. Do we need to obtain permission from her parents to marry?

Would she need this permission to marry a Chinese person?

An answer with reference to the original Chinese legal documents would be appreciated.

GUEST5788 Tonn, she needs to provide her Chinese ID card and household registration book (called Hukouben in Chinese). If her parents keeps the houshold registration book and don't give it to her, then you two cannot register your marriage legally.
