I am looking for information on Tonghu grassland, supposedly reachible from Shapotou desert reserarch centre. Is it really grassland or is it all dessertificated? I saw a picture of yurts in the sand somewhere on the net. Is it possible to make a tour (camel) there from Shapotou? Is there any accomodation (preferably in a yurt)? Furthermore i seek info about Bayan Hot: is it worthwhile a visit and are there places to stay? If so, I would like to combine a visit to the grasslands with one to the dessert, saving travel time. Possibly someone has other suggestion about places where one can combine the 2.
