Be very carefull. Myself and 2 friends who teach in Chefin spent 24hrs by train to get to Hohhot then found an un-signed (in English) tour Co. who "specialised in a tour to Mongolian Style "yurts". Well - a Metal re-construction of a yurt was our accommodation, we froze our asses off while the tour guide/s enjoyed heated accommodation. The 3day package included all of 3 highlights we could have walked to, in fact we walked off on our own because all was aimed at money for the guides.
Imitation Mongolia was all we got - the people spoke only chinese, fed us chinese and acted chinese. They never realised till we cut short our trip that we could understand chinese.
Our first meal was the only taste of "meat" that we got without being told that any more would cost more and that the dancers were to cold to dance and that the "Real" villagers we could visit were once again "Chinese".
Remarks: Spend the money - try going far far west - go to the real Mongolia!
I for one will never ever use a tour guide again!
