Yu Yuan Shanghai | EEUREKA | Jan 5, 2007 22:20 GMT-6
You want to enjoy some amazing shopping and be in one of the most beautiful places in Shanghai? Go to the Yu Yuan. It is a shoppers paradise surrounded by beautiful old Chinese buildings, and a magnificent park. If you go there take some time to just enjoy the people, smells, and sounds all around you. Most times the Yu Yuan is crowded with shoppers from all over. If you want to buy something there you will have no problem finding it. Just make sure you haggle with the price or you will get ripped off big time. I love this place, I hope you guys do too!

Best Street Stalls Ever! Xian | LOVESASIA82 | Oct 26, 2006 20:07 GMT-6
This was my favourite place to shop. I will tell you how to get there. Take a taxi to the drum tower. You will see the McDonalds there. Just behind the McDonalds there is a big tunnel, this is the Muslim quarter. Go through the tunnel you will see to your left tables of goodies! This is the beginning of an alley way that goes on forever and ever. This is where I bought all my gifts. When you get to an area in the path where you can make a turn or go straight you will see a window to pay for some sort of attraction. It is the Great Mosque. It is something like 12RMB and well worth the few dollars. It was one of the most beautiful places I visited while in Xi'an.

I am shopping in SilkStreet, can you believe it? Beijing | MELODYNYELLOW | Jul 24, 2006 13:15 GMT-6
I went shopping in SilkStreet with my friend Pauline today. I remember I wrote a tip last last week about Never Ever shopping in SilkStreet. Yes I did.
I remembered, but I did go there. SilkeStreet has a lot of things that you can not find in other places in Beijing. Like fake Famous brand jeans, Cheap clothes, Convenient exchangeable treads, really "luxury necklace and earrings" and so on. My friend was looking for a pair of jeans, a pair of Victoria Beckham jeans. And she found them there!! Of course they're not real but they're really cheap!!
Ok, here comes the tip of shopping in SilkStreet: The sale girl asked for 390RMB for that pair of jeans. Everybody knows they are fake but nobody should say it out. Why? I don't know. But whatever don't say it out, coz' nobody wanna make nobody angry. And then you gotta bargin. "Bargin", You really should remember this word in China. It works at almost every place here and helps you a lot. I drove a really hard bargin for my friend today. Remember to bargin harder and try to find some bad things about the things you are going to buy. remember do not behave like you really like it although you really like it.Just behave like it is not the type of thing that you are looking for and it is very bad, something like that.Remember how much did the sale girl asked us for the jeans? Yes, 390RMB. And how much do you think I gave her finally? haha, 70RMB. It's a lot cheaper!! They didn't cost me a lot right? They are fake brand, but they are worth to buy.

Shop in shenzhen Lowu(Luohu) Commercial City - Imagine 1500 small shops... Shenzhen | RUNNERMORE | Jul 21, 2006 08:59 GMT-6
The best and easiest place to shop, especially if you are short of time, is Lowu Commercial City, a sprawling shopping center with close to 1500 small shops selling everything from dinosaur eggs (yes! real dinosaur eggs!) to high fashion leather handbags. The mall is in a sleek blue glass building at the exit of the Chinese border crossing.
While it's relatively safe, the usual travelling rules apply: dress down, leave your jewelry at home, shop with a belt bag and bring a bag on wheels for your purchases.

Is that a DVD? Beijing | MELODYNYELLOW | Jul 15, 2006 06:48 GMT-6
DVDs in China are very cheap. You don't need to think about the Law things or Copyright things about those DVDs, god knows why they are so cheap?!
If you like watching movies, it's the time for you to do a DVD collection in Beijing. The price for each movie is usually 5-20 RMB, about 1-2.5 USD. You can buy 20 movies like that you bought in America by spending the same money!!!

So called silkstreet Beijing | MELODYNYELLOW | Jul 15, 2006 06:21 GMT-6
I saw that many foreigners shopping in Silk street. If I were you, I would never do that. There are many good places for shopping in Beijing which are a lot better and cheaper than Silk street.
There are many stores in Silk stree selling cheap clothes and traditional things. You may feel excited when you come here at the first moment, but after then you should calm down and clear your eyes when shopping here. Most of the clothes especially silken clothes are not real. Other things like little gifts or crafts are almost bad quality made. Please take care of your wallet and keep it in your eye sight.

Zhuhai -General- | KEVINWARDCFC | Apr 24, 2006 03:31 GMT-6
When one enters Mainland China via Zhuhai, there is a huge underground market right there as one exits from passport/visa formalities. There is an endless array of curio shops, but not all items on display are genuine. I found the paper-cuttings and wall-hangings particularly splendid. One has to bargain because it is a very touristy area. Be sure to shop around and compare prices. And if you are hungry, there are plenty of food stalls selling snacks and full meals. Prices are reasonable.
