For first time travelers in china
By GLADIATOR | 2/17/2010 5:44:39 AM

A few quick tips if you are coming to china first time and coming to zhuhai specifically,
1) Make sure you have your Visa . i have seen people often jumping in to plane thinking they need no visa. Check this china govt website for visa info (http://www.fmprc.gov.cn/eng/ljzg/3647/3648/)

2)You can reach zhuhai through 1) Macau , where there are three border points. In case you need more details drop me a message. 2) Honkong, directly from HK airport via the ferry in which case you dont need to cross HK immigration . The other is to go to HK-Macau ferry terminal in island or HK- China ferry terminal and take a ferry from there . It will take you about 1 hour.

3)In case you dont know mandarin or cantonese, i suggest you carry chinese address copies of the place you have to go when you enter china. You can show it to any taxi driver in china and normally they know the place. Taxi's are not expensive but try not to take private taxis's. The taxis in zhuhai are normally in green or blue colour.

4)for adventurous men a piece of advise is that please donot venture out to nightclubs alone and get into argument with locals. Though normally people are very friendly to foreigners here you can cause serious harm to you if you think you are a cowboy in texas.

If you need any further info , do drop me a message.

Theft and Robbery Cases
By VIGORHE | 10/16/2009 5:15:17 AM

Theft and robbery cases frequently occur in Guangzhou. Security status might be improved with the Asian Games approaching.
Helpful advices are given to tourists who are going to visit Guangzhou as follows:
1. Remember to take legal cabs to hotels you reserve in advance when you arrive at the airport
2. Never walking on the street or go sightseeing alone at night.
3.Don't place over CNY 200 cash in your purses or pockets , don't carry briefcases or handbags to go shopping at night-time.
4.Do take metro instead of buses on which hidden pickpockets are sitting or standing.
5.Don't walk along narrow or crowded streets.

Indian Food/Restaurant in Guangzhou
By WANHU | 4/10/2009 9:10:10 PM

I have been to Guangzhou only seven times, most of the time with some friends from Malaysia. These friends loved Indian, Middle East and Turkish foods very much. They are good hunters of food. From Turkish lokantasi, South Indian unavagam to restaurants and they never failed to savour the taste and jotted down inside their notebooks. We have been to Delhi Darbar Restaurant near Shangxia jiu, the foods are OK but the service is quite slow. Indian Chef near Beijing Lu is also OK and the service is better. One of the best Indian foods I have ever tasted is Uncle Café is situated at Henjing Commercial Centre, near Huanshi Zhong Lu, about 15 minutes walk from the GZ Train Station. It was introduced to me by Mr Amir, who was a Second Attaché Officer of the Consulate General of Malaysia Office.

Unfortunately Uncle Café is just a small restaurant that cannot accommodate larger group of diners, may 30 persons at one time. Try Beriani with chicken tikka masala, and crispy fried chicken and end up with crispy nan bread.
