Chinese Foot Binding

The ancient custom of foot binding have caused lifelong pain & disabilities to many women. These women suffer much pain to look beautiful. I believe the practice has since been abolished.

I feel really angry to this custom. It is indeed inhumane to women. And to some extent their foot binding is to cater for the interest of men. Oh, my God!

I have seen old ladies, when I was young, bound their feet with cloth, and not that easy for them to walk. My grandma used to tell me that one of the emperor's daughters was born with small feet. The emperor then pronounced that all girls have to bind their feet i) they were considered beautiful with small feet ii) they could work in the palace iii) to hide the princess deformed feet.

Those that defied the emperor's order would be severely dealt with, even with capital punishment. I don't know how far this is true.
