many people have the impression that this rock band is from China. In fact they are from Taiwan. The name China Blue is misleading too. I think many years ago they were successful with a english/chinese song titled One Night In Beijing.

Is there any Chinese rock band that is just as good, if not better?

Elcabron, I agree with u~Taiwan is a part of China.

Snowbird, I think the reason for your question is quite complicated. Many artistes in mainland China are talented, but they don't have good chance to make others know them. But there are still some famous singer, such as Zhu Zheqin, whose Sister Drum is indeed a great hit.

What I mean is that in S.E. Asia the Taiwan singers are better known than Chinese singers.

Chinese singers are equally talented like you have mentioned.

I think the reason may be due to poor marketing. Probably also because China itself is already such a huge market for local talent. No need for the singers to be promoted outside China.

"No need for the singers to be promoted outside"
reminds me of an historicak decision of an emperor.

Taiwan, South Korea and Japan have a long pop culture, way before China at least. So people in China were influenced from the outside first. That is why they still are the trend setters. But since the Mongolian Milk superstars are founded, things might change in the future;-)

The Mongolian Milk Supergirls, such a silly name, is really a great success in marketing.
Maybe that is what others should learn~marketing first!

Well, snowbird, they are not a group or band. It is a TV show just like Amercian Idol. The show chose top 10 girls in whole China, and finally the No.1 would be decided by the audience. People could send SMS to support the girl they like. And the audience were so crazy that the no.1 got millions of supporting SMS!~ So, everybody in mainland China knows the show now.

I like SHE,too. They are cute, and the songs are melodious. They performed in Beijing and Xi'an recently :)
