The Chinese thinking that their children must be plumb is going to cause them a lot of health problems in future. Think of heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc as some of the problem your precious child will be suffering. Anywhere in the world where Western Fast Food are being sold you will have this problem.

GUEST90154 Maybe should call Western fast food, Western slow poison. Result is the same as taking a small but increasing dose of poison every day. Finally the dose is strong enough to harm you.

It has little to do with WESTERN fast food. First, those with money are visiting restaurants more often and when you visit reastaurants you eat more food than at home. With increasing wealth we eat more of the tasty food and less of the basics rice/noodles and vegetables and more of the rich food. We also tend to eat more sweet food as weget wealthier...and despite many Chinese telling me westerners like sweet food more than Chinese, Chinese food has plenty of sugar in savoury dishes. Kids are learning to like sweet foods too and will consume much more.

Add to the increased consumption the reduction in everyday exercise from using buses instead of walking, and of course using a motorcycle or car and you have the makings of an obese nation.

I'd rather eat Chinese than western food, fast or slow, but it packs just as many calories/joules.
