Can someone please tell me if the shops in Schenzen are open over chinese new year

guest18558 I am planning to visit Hong Kong next week and was hoping to take a side trip to Schenzhen and was wondering when it would be best to do so considering that it is Chinese New Year. When will the shops and stores be back open??

Next week will be somewhat hit and miss, as compared to normal shopping periods.

A lot of the smaller family stores may be closed entirely. Other larger stores will most likely have abbreviated hours of operation...open later and close earlier. Most restaurants will be open, both in the hotels and elsewhere.

I am sure most larger shopping malls will be open, but again, with shorter hours of operation. Of course, there will always be the exception to the rule, with a few shops maintaining a normal schedule. This is a very important family holiday in China; and most workers will travel to visit family. Monday the 26th, will bring most shops/stores back to a normal schedule.
