Difference Between Sex and Gender

The important point in modern English is that 'gender' is now 'politically correct' when we refer to male or female. Sex is no longer used on most government forms. So they are no longer interchangeable if you accept 'political correctness' .....and if you work in government you must (as women dominate and they run the political correctness agenda... oops I hope I am still alive next week!).

Actually I am happy with this then sex can be something we do (or don't do as the case may be!)..ie we use it as a verb.

So I don't think it has anything to do with roles.

GUEST007 The difference between the two words is very delicate. Non-native-speaker is very easy to get confused with the two words. In China, many Chinese use 'sex' to take the place of 'gender".

GUESTAYAN The brief distinction between sex and gender is - determination of SEX is NATURAL while determination of GENDER is SOCIAL .
