![]() | On Tuesday, Oliver Kahn bade farewell to soccer after a farewell match between Bayern Munich and the German national team. Kahn appeared at the football field as the captain of Bayern Munich. Finally, Bayern Munich tied the German national team at 1 to 1. Unluckily, the goal kept by Kahn was broken. At the 75th minute, Kahn was substituted by Michael Rensing. Then he did a lap of honour to cheers from the 69,000 fans at the Allianz-Arena with the tune "Time to Say Goodbye". "Tonight was very moving for me, perhaps the most moving moment of my career," he said. I was under pressure my whole career whereas now I just had the joy of being out there in this stadium and before these fans one last time." Kahn said. When Kahn disappeared alone down the tunnel, the fans still chanted his name for over a minute. In the changing room, Kahn took off his gloves and shoes and the last match in his career was over. In his 21 years career, Kahn played for Germany 86 times and made 557 appearances in the Bundesliga for Dortmund and Bayern. Really a great goal keeper! After retiring, he will begin his new work---a TV consultant. On September 10, he will explain a World Cup qualifier between Germany and Finland. ![]() |
