there are a couple of good hotel near shangri-la which is cheap and good, make sure you view the room before committing yourself and don,t forget to bargain possibliy 20 to 30 percent discout a good source aresome of the street free agent who can make reasonabily good recommendation and good rates. I stay in the hotel next to the shang and I paid $ 180 rmb the rooms arequite good i forgot the name of the hotel.
if you are shopping anywhere in shenzhen try to pay the exact change otherwise you may get back fakes $.

Always ask for the possibility of discount in Shenzhen, be it in hotel, restaurant, shopping mall or stand stalls. Use card as much as possible. Fake money is always a headache. HKD is interchangeable with RMB.This is not uncommon. Be aware of robbers and pickpocket,rampant in SZ.
