GUESTGENGI I'm currently in my last year of Australian high school, and about a year & a half ago I partook in a high school exchange to Xiangfan, Hubei province. The biggest culture shock for me was the high school. Those kids work so hard! My host family's student started school at 7AM, came home at 12PM for lunch, back to school at 2PM for more classes then she'd come home around 6PM. I complain about the six hours of schooling I do five days a week, & it's nothing in comparison. When I observed an English class, the students were learning both UK English and US English. It's amazing. My student was sixteen and her English was almost flawless. I don't know anything about tertiary education in China, but almost every student I spoke to was dead-set on going to University.
