The real-name registration system for on-line game users took effect on August 1. Now, China will expand the policy to the mobile phone users from September 1.

After meeting with the big three telecom operators in China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced China will implement real name registration system for mobile phone users.

According to the policy, new mobile phone users have to register with their real names from September 1 and the old users will submit their information within three years.

But there is a problem. 70 to 80 percent of 700 million mobile phone users are using pre-paid cards, meaning they didn’t register. In the future, they will register too.

The big three telecom operators have been prepared for the change. However, it is still a question if the policy works within a shot period. According to a telecom expert, it takes at least two to three years to complete registration among Chinese mobile phone users.

If you use China Mobile SIM card, you can have 3 numbers with your ID card.

According to Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, The real name system will be conducted in two phases:

First, the Real Name Registration System is formally introduced since September.

Second, those mobile phone users who don't register their real names will be required to register their real names in the tuture 3 years.

Notice: If mobile phone users don't wnat to register their real names, their mobile phone servce won't be halted.

What about those news stands that sell SIM cards?

Beijing requires that those who buy SIM cards from the news stands have to offer their ID card and fill in the form. Will you hand in your ID card info to the owner of the news stands?

Yes, and I was informed one can buy 18 numbers in maximum, including China mobile, China hina Unicom and China Telecom, and there is no limit where you use your ID to buy a card.

You can use your ID card to buy 18 numbers at most? I am not a manager or businessman. One number is ok for me. I can't remember all numbers if I have several.
