Wan,

My dad is a good swimmer. But my mom and I can't swim. This is true, I swear. If it really happens, all I have to do is to ask help from others. I am still young and I will learn to swim soon. So my dad won't be put into difficult situation if my mom and I fall into the river at the same time.

The same answer I would give, because I also can't swim although I can dive with flippers and oxygen tank. When I was young, my mom would spank me if she new I played in the river.

Haha, your mom did a right thing. I was beaten by my mom when I went to a river for fun in my summer vacation of the second year in junior middle school. I remember clearly that my mom's eyes were full of tears when she found me. She splanked me hardly and said "Who brought you here? Don't you know it is dangerous to play in the river for a girl who can't swim?"

Now I understand my mom was worried about me. She splanke me to let me remember I did a wrong thing.

You are very capable, Wan. I just paddled a small tourist boat in a lake two years ago. Of course I did wear safety vest. I can't drive a speedboat. Anyway, I will learn to swim as soon as I can.

Sunnydream, my house is not far from the river, about 200m only. Almost every boy in my village knew how to swim except me. My brother no. 2 built boats as his part time hobby and sometimes sold to some interested buyers. My brother no. 4 into canoeing and I used to learn how to repair fibreglass canoe. As I grow older, learning how to swim is no longer inviting, after all, the river has become a canal and no one swims there anymore.

Wan,

I went to the swimming pool last week. I invited a coach to teach me how to swim. Now I can float on the water but still can't swim. As I move my legs and arms, I choke several times.

I think I will be absent for a while. You know, it is getting cold now. I am afraid of catching a cold.

So China is getting colder now? I will be having a rest in China from Dec 18 until Jan 6, 2013. No place in particular, probably in the southern areas where the weather is not so cold.

I don't know where Sunnydream comes from. But it is getting colder and colder in Northern China. Beijing already turned on central heating system at the beginning of November. Here in Xian, it is getting colder and colder. It snowed in northern part of Shaanxi province.

Tomorrow, Xian will run its central system since the weather forecast reports the temperature will fall below 0 centigrade degree.
