When in a restraunt try to choose the seat closest to the air conditioning.

Toilets don't come with their own toilet paper so carry a tissue packet with you.

You aren't allowed to take pictures inside stores. Pulling out your camera sets workers into a panic. So turn your flash off and sneak the pics incogneto.

If you aren't experienced crossing busy streets then just stick beside someone else who's crossing. Its ok to stand right beside them, they don't mind.

An umbrella will make your day alot cooler. An umbrella costs 20RMB.

Westerners hang out at Alibaba's. The clientel at night is mainly western students and some chinese female wannabe groupies from the University. Its a good place to sit, smoke, eat, and have a beer. Finding it is tricky because the place doesn't say Alibaba on it. From the Nankai University you walk thru the little gate, over the little bridge then walk across the big street and go to the left wise. You'll see a side street which has Tobacco World and some red/yellow logo'd chain restraunt on its corner. Walk down this street for 2 minutes or so and you'll see a side street on the right containing Alibabas. Alibabas is on the right hand side of this street about 40 meters down. There are bikes parked outside of it and it has a big sign over the door in chinese and doesn' have windows. It kind of looks like a bar. The easiest way to find it is to walk back and forth until you run into a westerner who is heading there.

They say blind people are more tuned to do massage than those with sight. There is a blind massage clinic beside Ma Chang Dao primary school on Jin Gang road in the Nan Kai district. Its called Kang Hua Mang Ren (Blind people) Massage Clinic. They don't speak any english so you'll need some chinese to tell them your ailment.

It costs 30RMB for 1 session or 125RMB for 5 sessions. 60RMB for the full body massage. They massage you with your clothing on, they put a sheet over the part they are massaging. I bought 5 sessions and they did wonders for me. The two younger men didn't seem so blind because they kept staring at my gf's chest. :D Still.. nice people.

On the end of this street is a Bank of China and if you go left from there you'll walk to the Tobacco World, McDonalds, Foreign Bookstore, a China post, and Be For Time Tea.

There are other clinics with massage around town. I went to one in the Wang Ding Di district which had a dentist also and got chinese suction cup treatment and a useless massage. The suction cup treatment hurt and left me with gigantic suction welts allover my back. Picture coming soon :D

If you need to exchange your money or cash traveller's cheques I suggest going to the Bank of China. They give you a good rate and don't charge high commission. I was charged $3.75 on exchanging $500. They have 5 or so locations (I go to the Main Tianjin Branch and the Wang Ding Di branch)
