Inhalers (Those with Asthma)
By THATSALLIE | 10/25/2007 7:10:09 AM

I suggest anyone who has/had Asthma (or any other breathing problems) to certainly make sure they pack the appropriate medications they need.

For me, my Asthma has been in remission for the past ten years - I come to Beijing and I end up having Asthma attacks left and right. Because my Asthma had been in remission for so long, I didn't have any inhalers or medications to treat it.

Beijing's air is of horrible quality, the daily smog is thick, and the locals smoke and do it to the extreme - all of this combined is perhaps what triggered my reaction.

Even if you've never had breathing problems, it's best to pack safe and bring one.

Best season
By MELODYNYELLOW | 7/15/2006 6:40:53 AM

The best season to visit Beijing is May, June, September and October. The climate in Early spring may not be good because you might meet "Yellow storms" at this time. Autumn is always the best season of Beijing. You will see the best views and blue skies.

If you want to come in Winter that is also a good idea. Because the biggest Chinese festival ChunJie is usually in Janurary(ChunJie follows the Traditional chinese calendar). Also you can see snow in this season. Beatiful Chinese traditonal buildings covered by snow, yes, You must get moved here.

Electricity (for Europeans)
By TARZAN | 6/16/2004 5:36:33 AM

When you go to China you do not have to bring a converter for electricity. Most sockets are the same as the European (two holes) and the voltage is 230 volts. So save some money on not buying a converter.

I consider traveling light very easy. If that is of course if you travel for pleasure not for work. Anything you might need in access to that what you brought with can be bought.

ATMs in China
By TASSALUM | 4/26/2004 3:25:28 PM

There are branches of The Bank of China all over the place so you shouldn't have any trouble. If you're going to smaller, more remote places it may be better to take cash though.
