Staying on Lamma Island by Involvementstay
By TRAVELHK | 1/25/2007 3:38:02 AM

A family of ours who went to HK for 4 days and we stayed in some special accommodation--Lamma Island, It is near Central, and we need to take the ferry to go there, it was fabulous and we can see the city view and country view on the way to the resort and Central.
Accommodation is cheap compared with hotel and the place is near the pier, safe, quiet and nice. Different feeling with staying in hotel in downtown, anyway it is a good try and book online through Involvementstay like email. They also have the webiste here:

Hong Kong is great as I stay on Lamma Island, I visit Central and HK Island a lot

YMCA Internation Hotel
By DAISY | 12/10/2006 12:30:30 AM

The 2nd time when I came to Hong Kong for business, I chose YMCA (the whole name is Young Men's Christian Association)International Hotel in You Ma Tei.

It is a Christain hotel, so the price is a little bit cheaper comparatively.

What I like most is that it is renowned for her ideal location accessible to shopping arcades and commercial centres.

About 2-3 minuts bu foot, you can easily find the You Ma Tei Metro stop nearby.

And because near the Nathan Road, it would not take you much time to walk to the propersrous shopping area. During the 3 days, I always walked to the famous Beauty Street for some great and cheap clothes, shoes, bags, where you can find everything you want.

If you are a Christan, it is also easy for you to find some store which sells something related to Jesus, even different versions of Saint Bible.

Ibis in Hong Kong
By DAISY | 12/8/2006 12:32:29 AM

Been a France privated hotel, Ibis is located in North Point of Hong Kong Island, and it is really comprehensive though small.

Generally speaking, it's hard to find a 3-star hotel offering free breakfast in Hong Kong, but Ibis is, and the breakfast is great as well.

Many peopel for short business trip would choose Ibis, not only for its comprehensive and comfortable facility and service, but the convenient transportation as well. Just five minuts for you to get to the nearest metro stop on foot.

I would still choose Ibis for next trip.

cheap place to stay in Hong Kong
By ELCABRON | 2/20/2005 3:30:39 AM

Hk is the most expensive city in China. If you want to keep it cheap for a backpacker it is not that easy.

But as long as you are travelling without girlfriend (they make travelling soooooo expensive;-)
I can tell you of the MIRADOR ARCADE right on Nathan Road No. 58, the main shopping road of TsimShaTsui Kowloon District, HK. There are many Guesthouses inside.
It is possible to stay there for 50 HKD a night in dormitory rooms. Which sometimes means 14 beds - yes, every square centimeter is expensive and has to be used in HK!
The building is totally run down just like the Chungking Mansions, which is famous of the movie Chungking Express. Some scenes show the bunker atmosphere quite well. Inside both buildings you find a mixture of Pakistani, Indian, African shops. There is whistling from every corner: (Fake Rolex? Cheap suit? Marijuana? Girls?!?)
But inside the Chungking Mansions there are also delicious Indian restaurants. They are quite famous, that is why I sometimes had to wait up to 45 minutes to get a table - but it was worth it!
