Manchurian restaurant
By FAERIEQUEENE | 11/25/2007 9:09:48 AM

There are many ‘hidden’ restaurants in Hong Kong, small, with good ambience and authentic cuisine and great food. Here is a taste of Northeastern Chinese cuisine, the “Bistro Manchu”, located at Elgin Street, up Central Escalators.

Ask for a scented osmanthus Wulong tea, to taste with the vast choices of Manchurian cold appetizers, dumplings, specialty courses and desserts.

(photo: a quick lunch visit, had osmanthus tea, spring onion tossed with beancurd salad, white cabbage & pork dumplings, sweet rice dumplings with black sesame paste)

internet cafés
By FAERIEQUEENE | 11/25/2007 9:10:31 AM

Internet cafés are everywhere in Hong Kong but some offer added value of a nice view, even a magnifique vista than a cup of coffee, in addition to internet access...

- Pacific Coffee at Peak tram Tower, the Peak. overlooking the sky, Victoria Harbour and peak tramway

-Mix (fresh juices and smoothies for a change, no caffeine) at Hollyroad Road, overlooking the heritage building of old Central Police Station and Soho area

-3 Pacific Coffee shops in Wanchai, on terrace of Great Eagle Building, terrace (Saniltun) of the China Resources Building, corner of Jaffe Road and Stewart Road opposite to Novotel Century Hotel (these locations are in the China Embassy area, while you are killing time to collect your visa....)

The Starbucks seem to be less best located and they do not often have internet service.

eating open at the Peak
By FAERIEQUEENE | 7/15/2007 9:24:46 PM

To eat under the sun is a getaway from the air conditioned restaurants in town. The terrace of the Peak Cafe, opposite the Peak Tram Tower, is worth a try. It serves a variety of Asian cuisine and barbecue at night.

Delicious Indian Food
By ELCABRON | 2/20/2005 11:01:43 PM

The shabby building of the Chungking Mansions on Nathan Road is famous for many things. Bunker atmosphere, hookers whistling around every corner: Fake Rolex? Cheap suit? Marijuana? Girls?!?
But despite all the negative reasons for avoiding it you should give this building a try. Just because of the best Indian restaurants in town. They are quite famous, that is why I sometimes had to wait up to 45 minutes to get a table - but it was worth it!
