Beware of the Zebra
By MICKKINCHINA | 11/24/2007 12:01:00 PM
All I can tell you is beware of the zebra crossings! The first thing that you will find when you visit china is that the crossing means very little to most drivers, they will continue to drive across it while people dive out of the way. Chinese highway code says that the pedestrian has the right of way but this still remains to be seen, it’s now only in some of the large cities where they are implementing more strict pedestrian crossing measures. Heat
By KLUE | 8/6/2006 6:20:52 PM
Nanjing, Hangzhou are incredibly hot and humid in late June, and I understand July and August also. Take plenty of towlettes (wash and dry) with you to help keep you cool. I carried a hand fan also and used it. Finding cool, bottled ice tea is not hard to find, but also carry water with you and drink it. The hotels we were in were air-conditioned, but sometimes not very much. Occasionaly we got a cool taxi, and that was a real relief after a hot, humid walk...and most of the sites have extensive walking.

By PRVNK | 2/19/2005 11:48:50 PM
Some taxis ask whatever price they want. Laowais beware! I was told it would cost less than 20 rmb for wulinmen from train station. A taxi asked me 40 rmb. I took a bus and paid 1 rmb.
