When you are in a hospital, you must register(挂号Gua 4 Hao 4) first. The reception will ask you which office you want to choose, and you should say: 内科(Nei 4 Ke 1) = internal medicine 外科(Wai 4 Ke 1) = surgery 牙科(Ya 2 Ke 1) = dentistry 儿科(Er 2 Ke 1) = paediatrics 妇科(Fu 4 Ke 1) = maternity etc. etc. Or you can also describe your illness to the reception and she will help you to choose the right office and doctor.
