GUEST25988 You might want to get the English right when you're talking about how good command you have of it. Just a thought...

GUEST34220 does anyone know about working for Disney English in China. Alot of feedback, has come back quite negative. I know we all have positives and negatives to every thing we do, but I was concerned that there seemed to be more negative than positive. is the pay of 10,500RMB decent when working possibly 40 hrs per week? or should the pay be much more than that? I would love some responses please

GUEST31140 Hello,

I am looking at moving to CHhna to teach English most likely in a Kindergarten in Guangzhou I have an interview tmrw night for a contract with all the usual benefits, accommodation, flights, working visa etc but they are only ('only' meaning I'm not really sure whats expected) 8500 RMB a month to teach kindergarten for 20 hours per week plus 12 office hours ( I think). I am a qualified teacher here in Australia...what should I be expecting as a decent wage teaching ESL in China?

Thanks
Steph

GUEST40153 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/03/average-teacher-salary-around-world_n_4037534.html

According to the above link and the below link, foreign teachers in China are the lowest paid foreigners in China while some expats are making over $120,000 a year in non-teaching professions.

GUEST56170 Actually you do not have to guess about salaries of expat foreign teachers in China. The China Foreign Teachers Union has posted pay scale charts at http://ChinaForeignTeachersUnion.org and it appears they are updated every year based on the input of their 6,000+ members.

It is normal for them to ask for passport, photos, certificates and it is normal for people to supply them. But with all that information someone can easily steal your identity. People are too trusting.

For Shanghai...

A regular English teacher will make about 100 RMB per hour of teaching + expenses paid for including flights and apartment. Contract to an outside private school is more expensive because it is more demanding on the teacher so the rate for that is 200 RMB per hour. But if there are more difficulties or you are contracting yourself out then it should be 300 RMB an hour. That is my experience.

That is why schools like Web International and English First are rip offs because you should calculate your hourly rate. Always work for public related schools.

Jesus why did I write all that when no one will even read it :)
