We drove up from Suzhou to visit the Han dynasty Terracotta warriors. The Han Dynasty site is a hidden gem of Jiansu province. The tomb of emporer Chu is breathtaking. You can walk through it and explore the rooms. The baby terracotta warriors are small but detailed. The pits under the lake are bigger. The temple on the mountain is included in the ticket and is worth walking up the steps so that you can go up to the top of the temple building and take in the view of Xuzhou. When you go in, the electric cars will offer to drive you around and wait for a fee but we found the walking easy enough. This place is well worth the 90rmb entrance fee, but take your time looking at each part as you are only allowed in once to each part. You can have lunch at RT Mart across the road and come back into the site. Probably best to visit this place during the warmer weather.
We looked around on the net for somewhere to go in the evening and found someone recommending Hill Bar on Hubu Hill. They have two bars, The Whitehorse downstairs has a pool table, quality draft beer only 35rmb a pint and they serve food. The Hill Bar upstairs is a cosy bar with a great atmosphere, bottled beer only 10rmb each and they have saily specials on different shots. We met some great local foreigners here. The owner of the bar also showed us some great local Xuzhou restaurants nearby to try out and the food was amazing.
The second evening we went to check out the underground amusement area in Gupeng Square. There are lots of entrances to different parts of it. We finally found the main underground shopping centre, arcade and food court. We ate from a great outlet, SiBiKe Dry Pot. You choose what veg and meat you want, they weigh it and then cook it. It was amazing. There is lots to choose from down there.
