Kashgar

October holiday in Kashgar was a perfect time to experience life in the Muslim world at a time when tourism is not at its peak. My wife and I saw beautiful mountains and stunning desert, all in a matter of just 6 days. Amazing.

Another trip to Beijing allows us to see two new sites - the Temple of Heaven and the Olympic buildings.

Shanghai

We took a three day stop in Shanghai on our way out of the country back to America. We were able to experience the Bund, different parks and gardens, the Pearl Tower, the aquarium near the tower, and of course, the sweet Mag-lev train to Pudong airport!

Urumqi

A quick trip to the capital is all we need to restock on imported goods, do some shopping, and buy some DVD's!

Beijing

During this visit we were able to see most of the great sites - the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, the underground city - as well as performances such as Chinese acrobats.

Datong
February 1, 2007 - February 3, 2007

A short train ride from Pingyao to Taiyuan and then from Taiyuan brought us to Datong, home of the hanging monastery and the famous grottoes with carved Buddhas.

Pingyao

After Xi'an we made a quick day stop in Pingyao to see another great city wall and a beautiful town stuck in history. Here we walked the wall, shopped, and visited a couple different museums within the city walls.

Xian

Our first Spring Festival trip began with a stop in Xi'an where we visited the history museum, the city wall, the Terracotta warriors, and the Banpo Neolithic Village.

Chengdu
September 30, 2006 - October 4, 2006

My wife and I took a short trip to Chengdu during the October holiday to visit the panda reserve, watch some Sichuan opera, and roam the city.
