Longsheng
April 7, 2005 - April 7, 2005

Some of the greatest mountain scenes on Earth can be found in Longsheng. Hilltribe minority villagers were very nice to visitors but their welcome drinks really were a bit too much for me.

Yangshuo
April 8, 2005 - April 9, 2005

I had a wonderful boat trip down the Li River from Guilin to Yangshuo. Yangshuo town itself was not that impressive but the Western Street market appeared much better than I had earlier expected.

Guilin
April 6, 2005 - April 10, 2005

A must-see place for those who love old-style Chinese paintings. Guilin is a great combination of the new and old cultures of today's China. I strongly recommend Guilin to everyone who loves hills and rivers. And do not forget to try the famous Guilin's dishes!!

Shenzhen
January 29, 2005 - January 29, 2005

A day trip to Shenzen from Hong Kong was manageable and worthwhile. I and a couple of friends did a lot of shopping at a mall near the Shenzen-Hong Kong border. Food was also cheap and many restaurants there were offering food of better quality than in Hong Kong.

Chengdu
December 31, 2002 - January 3, 2003

I made a trip to Heizhugou in southern Szechuan province, an under-developed wild nature park at some 3,000+ metres above the sea level. It was a wonderful experience indeed. Everything there was rare including the hilltribe minority's villages. People were nice and food was unbelieveably delicious!! Good-looking restaurant was impossible to find though.

Shanghai
May 1, 1980 - May 10, 1980

I went there with my mother and my little brother who was 6 at then looking for my grandfather whom our mother had lost touch with since 1958. I did not remember much of it. But I could still remember that when I walked on the street there were many people staring at my jeans wondering what kind of clothes I was wearing. Every local wore only the Maoism-style outfit.
