Xi Xi wetlands trick

Beware the Xi Xi wetlands! We visited there and booked a 1 hour boat trip for 100 yuan. We also paid a 300 yuan deposit. When we returned after 1 hour we were told we had been 4 hours and so lost all our deposit. It is impossible to argue as no-one speaks English and our hotel told us that this happens often.

I think he was not just charged 100 yuan for a one hour boat ride. Those fellows simply claimed that he had a four hour ride even though it was a one hour ride, and forfeited his deposit. In short, he was ripped. It would have made no difference even if he could Mandarin. It might have helped if there had some form of documentation like time stamp to prove it otherwise even calling the police in might not have helped.

100 yuan per Hour service for a boat is quite normal there. I had such experence before.
