"Open rice" in Cantonese chinese, meaning eating at home or eating out. The Dai Pai Dong is an open-air kind of eating at a food stall, or restaurant, with foldable tables and chairs, big electric fans, characterised by great variety of food with "wok he" or chi of the wok(great stir fry made in the wok) and low prices. Dai Pai Dong is regarded by some as the collective memory of the Hong Kong people.
