Many old houses had screens at the axial of the houses, the functions of the screens are reflecting sunshine, turning back strong winds and with painting on it to ward off the evid spirits. Nine Dragon Screens had the same but stronger might. I wonder that 9 dragons' paintings could not be used for common people, it was the number for emperors only, so I don't know why there is one in Shanxi. |
