Kevin, many people like you make the argument that this year was not a satisfying one for Roger.
While it's true there were many frustrations and heartbreaks for Roger, he still managed to win a Grand Slam tournament and an Olympic Gold medal!

Given the state that tennis is in these days, with new tough competition, you can be assured that Roger is happy with the results so far this year, especially in light of his illness that he as been fighting for most of the year.

I believe Federer would have beaten Nadal in a U.S. Open final this year. The U.S. Open now has the fastest surface of the four grand slams and Nadal was tired from his long year.
If Murray could beat Nadal so easily, Federer would have had a similar result.

As poorly as Federer has played this past year, how many players can boast they stopped Federer from winning a slam in the past 5 years?
