Hehe, same here, also a great fun of hiking and beach. In fact tonight I miss the beach walking a lot... When I was in Yantai, I love to talk a walk along the beach in late afternoon, enjoy the warm and soft sunshine, blue sky and fresh air, hear the sound of the waves but all are in peaceful... It's fantastic... I guess I miss it a lot becase the weather here in Beijing is also lovely these two days and makes me willing to go out... Since you would arrive at Beijing, the great wall hiking would be great - there are so many different part of the Great Wall so you wont need to repeat the one as you did last time. One problem is that in August it would be very hot here.. As you mentioned, you love the beach. Then I think Qinhuangdao which is not far away from Beijing would be a good choice for you. Or if you don't mind going a bit far, Qingdao, Weihai and Yantai would be a lot better... Qingdao is very famous for the beach. What's more, there's some unique architecture with the style in Germany Williams period - You can't even find it in Europe... It's a modern city. Well, not as modern as Shanghai but still... However, I walked along a narrow road which leads to a hill once when I was there, all of a sudden I forgot all the noisy world and fall into peacufulness... Weihai is such a nice and clean but small city. You'll never know how much I love the beach there... Yantai is also good... Anyway, if you don't want to go that far, on your way from Xi'an to Shanghai you could go to Rizhao, also a coastal city... When you are in Xi'an, Huashan would be a nice place for hiking... And since it's a VERY GOOD place for food, you might want to do a bit advanture to find the most original place for snacks... I did that and I think I would NEVER forget... Such a wonderful experience... When I gave the last suggestion, I considered the similarity of the sights in different cities... That's why I gave those cities.. follow that way, each city would be different and you won't get boring...
