Actually there are G trains between Zhengzhou and Xian. You may take G trains from Xian to Zhengzhou and visit Shaolin Temple first. It takes around 2 hours and 30 minutes. Ticket prices: CNY 240 for second class soft seat and CNY 390 for first class seat.

Then take bus or train from Zhengzhou to Shiyan.

Bus: take long distance bus at Zhengzhou Long-distance Bus Center Station.
Train:

For tourist attractions, you may visit Beijing Attractions, Xian Attractions, Zhengzhou Attractions and Shanghai Attractions to find some you are interested in.
