Out of my three dogs, two were adopted from the pound. They don’t come with AKC papers because most likely, they were a result of mix breeding from the problem stated above. But they are the greatest dogs one could have, when adopted from the pound they come with a lot of incentives such as vaccinations and up to date health, neutering, micro chipping and county registration. The other is a Siberian Husky which I got through a reputable breeder with AKC papers. He is sort of “my” dog, I have spent over 5,000 on his pompous bitchass but that’s because he didn’t come packaged like the other dogs and because I raised him from a pup. I also have to spend double the time catering to him such as combing him every day because he has a dense long hair coat, brushing his teeth, putting together his meals and playing with him because he breaks things when he is alone for too long. He is the worst dog to own but the best friend you will ever have. Even though I have to get him out of trouble because he violates other female dogs even though he is neutered or that he shits all over his kibble if he doesn’t get cottage cheese over wet dog food on top of kibble in a bed of cold warm whole milk with the wet food juice drizzled over like a sauce, he is worth all the blood, sweat, tears and money I spent on him. Even just a paw that he puts on my foot after a tough day is enough to let go of the bitterness. I am not trying to brag about how I raised my dog but most Americans like me who adopt/buy these dogs that fit there personality (Guard dog, Aggressive dog, Friendly dog, Aloof/Independent dog (mine)) may seem obsessed but we raise these dogs just as we would raise another human being. A lot of Chinese people here in the community and neighborhood have called me crazy for the time and money I spend on my dog, but then again these are the same people who raise dogs with collar, leash and table scraps, then ditch the dog because its going to cost them more money and wait for another one to be available. So there it is, America is not full of rich people that raise pets. Danny
