I actually posted once under another name containing HK in the middle of the thread. I don't like all the wrong spelling here, but anyway I'll write again: I'm a college guy from Hong Kong and have been single all my life. I'm alright with that because for cultural reasons I have simply too much to do in college before I can really act properly, not as a Chinese guy myself, but just as a young man. I'm expecting to take up post-grad studies and work and to live more independently than ever before, so that I'll make a good partner for any young woman, regardless of ethnicity. For the posts I consider valid arguments but not over-generalizations/racist attacks, I think they all boil down to a few arguments to our original question: 1) I think racial concerns are the most important because it's connected to many issues. One, discrimination itself is enough to scare a lot of people. For the media portrayal, intuitively not just Asian males (Chinese included) are being the victims, but also black people, latinos. Perhaps the only ones who aren't portrayed negatively would be white guys. Not even white women, because you have the more or less same implicit patriarchy in your society, like in the Chinese. 2) The wrong thought is to treat everybody in a dichotomy which is dangerous. While you say Hollywood/American media in general (also influential outside America) do this and that, some kinds of white men also have a very bad reputation in my country, such as sex tourists. So, on second thought, I won't even write "shyness" and "physique" as secondary reasons why AMWF is rare. Any Chinese guy, wherever he lives, whoever he is, as long as he's not shy, very aggressive womanizer, and is tall and strong and mascular and handsome, it already crumbles ALL your generalizations. The fact is, like in Hong Kong where I lived almost all my life, there are TONS of Chinese guys who are great womanizers/lovers even though their physique is less than average. Don't put that crappy dichotomy that Asian guys are nerds/shy/have small confidence-thing, etc. It's ALL individual. A Chinese guy can look really ugly and nerdy, dresses poorly by Chinese AND western standards, and is still a huge womanizer.
