Definitly not can you tell me about any single war won against a western nation? The last one is the war between French and Chinese in 1881 until 1885 and China was defeated. China 's success is absolutly not linked to military power but to the worldwide movement of decolonization that occured since the 1940s even earlier for some nations... Noone cared about conquering the Chinese land for the little interest it has, since there is no more need for the silkroad from the begining of the twentith century: we can transfer goods from ports and silk is also being produce elsewhere Earth...
The only acquisition you made from a strong military power during the communist era is Tibet (illegally), and the constant but useless war against Taiwan (to build one unique China). What a success. We can talk about China selling weapons in Africa to help people killing each other against oil. What an achievement. Weapons may have a role to preserve peace but each time China uses to frighten its neighboors (espacially Japan) nothing else...
